The Faerie Thief: The Ruby Queen’s Garden 013

The Ruby Queen's Garden (Episode One)“What are you thinking of when you find a door?” Lyra asked, her voice heavy with sleep.

Gwyn stared at the sky some more. A star-man contemplated three rosebushes before reaching out an plucking a rose from the middle bush. The rose melted away into a beautiful princess, and the other two bushes turned into her sisters. They cheered and danced as the ancient curse had been broken. At long last, they were free.

Free.

“I don’t know. Being able to visit with you. Doors to your realm are the only ones I’ve ever been able to find.”

“Hmmm. Well, what are you thinking when you try to summon a door?”

The Curious Leaf Book 2: Voyage to the Sea

Happy Monday!

I hope you’re enjoying the journey so far. 🙂 Now that we’ve finished with the moon, it’s time to move on. But before we go, I just want to mention that I’ll be leaving The Voyage to the Moon up in the archives so you can come back and read whenever you’d like. I’ll also be releasing it soon on Amazon, et al. soon for $0.99 as a standalone. If you’d like to read it now with the convenience of your ereader/device, you can always hit the Send to Kindle button at the bottom of each post or read it and other moon related short stories in Moon Curiosities.

Today I’d like to announce the second book in *The Curious Leaf serial: Voyage to the Sea. We’ll leave the moon behind completely (for a time) and turn our faces toward the sea beginning Monday, September 7, 2015.

TCL#2 Cover

In the meantime, please continue to enjoy the other current serials:

The Faerie Thief: The Garden on Tuesdays

Mira Morganstein: The Pink Lemonade Club on Wednesdays

Secrets of the UnderWhere on the occasional Thursdays. (More on this in a bit.)

As we’re starting a new book, please feel free to leave any feedback you have. I’m constantly tweaking things so as to give you the best reading experience I can. How is the length for the weekly installment? Too long? Too short? Just right? Do you have any particular places you’d like the crew of The Curious Leaf to venture forth and explore?

I hope you’re enjoying the journey so far. The moon is one of my favorite storyscapes, and I’m sorry to leave it behind just as we were becoming acquainted. But never fear, we will return. Someday. In the meantime, please continue to enjoy the current serials Tuesday-Thursday. Journey forth, brave Wonder-kin, for the next adventure awaits!

If this is your first time visiting, check out the first installment of this voyage and swing by the library to read The Curious Leaf for free if this is the first time you’ve met Kya or Hearthorne.

Come back tomorrow to journey with Gwyn as she fights her way through the Garden in The Faerie Thief.

Happy Monday!

Mira Morganstein: The Pink Lemonade Club 012

MMCoverOfficial Proclamation

The one known as Mira Morganstein of the Mortal Realm has been found. As of yet, she poses no direct threat to our Realm, but that is likely to change before the next moon fall.

Every citizen is required by Queen Ravenna’s word to report any sightings, rumors, supposings, or information they may have gathered, found, or overheard dealing with or pertaining to Mira Morganstein.

Failure to do so will result in being banished to the Mortal Realm for the duration of seven moon falls. Remember: no matter how horrible death may be, there are far worse fates reserved for those whose loyalties lie with elsewhere.

LONG MAY THE QUEEN WIELD HER SCEPTER AND STAFF!

The Faerie Thief: The Ruby Queen’s Garden 012

TFTcoverGwyn’s first try resulted in a small purple toad.

It blinked up at them with mournful eyes, its shoulders humped over.

“That was a good beginning,” Lyra said, patting her arm. “Most people don’t get anything on their first try. I know I didn’t.”

“What did I do wrong?” Gwyn frowned down at the toad. It was nothing like a door.

“I’ve never conjured a toad like that, so I don’t know.” Lyra leaned over and brushed her fingers across the toad’s brow. Its face relaxed right before it puffed into a golden cloud of magic. “Try again.”

After summoning a pink hatbox, a shoe, five pieces of silver, and an old coat that was mostly patches, Gwyn slumped down. “I’m never going to get this.”

The Curious Leaf: Voyage to the Moon 012

TCL Cover“Come, child. I’ll see you to your ship,” the pale queen said, holding out her hand and smiling the serene smile of a person caught in a pleasant dream.

“But I’ve only just arrived,” Kya said, taking the queen’s hand nonetheless. She cast her hungry eyes about the hall, drinking in the glowing white stone of the walls, the smooth, delicate throne of ivory, and the black marble floor shot through with stars.

The queen gestured to a round door that opened silently on its own. “Not all visits happen along the times of our choosing.” They stepped through, and to Kya’s surprise, she found herself back at the harbor, The Curious Leaf bobbing gently against the white ash dock while the sand leading up to the harbor gleamed like crushed diamonds bursting with moonlight.

She turned to the queen, her mind ripe with questions. “How . . . ?”
